10:10 | Monday 10th September – Friday 5th October 2018
Our Vittoria Street Gallery is delighted to host 10:10, an exhibition celebrating the 10th Anniversary of Design for Industry jewellery graduates from the School of Jewellery. This landmark exhibition highlights the successes and achievements of these graduates and the companies they have impacted upon or have created themselves over the last ten years.
The work of the alumni on show demonstrates the variety of roles and skills that the course encourages and develops. The programme enables students to explore the variety of technologies that are driving the industry forward and is facilitated by our in-house centre for Digital Design and Manufacture, supported by an array of commercial production companies. Students and Alumni develop new products and skills which are recognised globally across the industry through trade shows and competitions. It is these achievements which are creating the future of the industry, utilising the most current cutting edge technology and materials to achieve international recognition for innovation.
Gaynor Andrews the Original initiator and course leader of the BA (Hons) Design for Industry programme and former Head of the School of Jewellery comments
‘It has been extremely satisfying to watch the progress of the Design for Industry graduates over the past ten years, many of whom are engaged in significant positions within manufacturing companies here in the Jewellery Quarter, across the UK and beyond.
Claire Price the current course leader comments
“Providing students with the skills and knowledge to step into meaningful careers in the jewellery industry and beyond, is at the heart of what we do. The companies we work with go out of their way to provide support to our students and graduates and it’s these links that are paramount to the future of our industry. We want our students to work with businesses. If you think you could help support what we do, we would love to hear from you.”
The course team would like to thank all of the individuals and companies who have given up their time to help and generously support the DFI course over the last ten years. We couldn’t do what we do without you.
