Last Friday (29th November) at midday was the final deadline for our submission for the Research Excellence Framework. After months of hard work to prepare our submission, we were able to press the button on the afternoon of Thursday 28th November.
Compared to the previous research assessment (RAE 2008) this time we had returned more staff and submitted in four new units of assessment (UoAs). It was a fantastic collective effort by staff across the University and the Research Office held a ‘thank you lunch’ on Friday for the administrators, UoA coordinators and Ref Action Team members. Everyone who attended were also given a small token of appreciation…
Once again, a big thank you to everyone involved in the process.
Our annual research conference, RESCON13 is taking place on Tuesday 17 December at Parkside, and will also celebrate our REF submission, as well as our research as a whole. There will be presentations from a diverse mix of our postgraduate research students and academic staff, and the event will be followed by an evening reception with special guests.
The schedule is nearly finalised and will be circulated to staff and students soon. Those who want to display a poster must get their designs to me (if a student), or Digital Print Services (if staff) by Tuesday 10th December
Staff and students are still able to register to attend, more information here. It should be a great day, we look forward to seeing you there.
