Last week we held an event in partnership with Aston University as part of the British Science Festival 2014, called ‘Birmingham: The Smarter, Greener, Science City’. It featured a keynote from Rick Robinson, Executive Architect of Smart Cities, IBM.
Rick talked about the challenges and opportunities arising from from increasing urbanisation, and what Birmingham should do about it. He also talked about the Smart City Alliance, a group of companies and institutions in Birmingham taking a bottom-up approach to supporting innovation, involving communities and driving collaboration across the city.
You can watch the full keynote below:
There were also talks from David Hardman, CEO of Innovation Birmingham, BCU’s Professor of Landscape Architechture Kathryn Moore, Jim Scott of Aston University on the European Bioenergy Research Institute (EBRI) and many more. There was also a talk on sustainable food and the street food revolution by Brum Yum Yum.
Further videos and photos will follow, in the meantime take a look at a Twitter timeline of the event on Storify.
