Research does not occur in a vacuum; it should have relevance to the world outside of academia. Research in design especially, with its focus on practical, real world issues, has a particular contribution to make. Yet, this link is frequently left unexploited. Building relationships at an early stage in researchers’ careers helps to forge those links for the future.
The case examples in this section were developed as part of a knowledge exchange project that partnered art and design researchers with external organisations to engage in a variety of short projects, with a focus on applying research expertise to the real world.
