Ethics project

Compared with other, more established subject areas, art and design have only recently begun to focus explicitly on the ethical implications of research. In some cases, ethical guidelines associated with other disciplines have provided a good basis for addressing many issues, but increasingly researchers are becoming aware of ethical dilemmas that are specific both to the subject domains and to the particular research practices emerging in this area.

The case examples included in this section were developed as part of a project investigating approaches to ethics in art and design research. They are intended to prompt reflection on the kind of ethical questions we face.
