Parkside Gallery Hosts Flatpack Festival’s Amusement Park Exhibition

Flatpack Film Festival kick-starts this March and has teamed up for the second year with Birmingham City University.

For two weeks from the 16 March 2015 the Parkside Gallery will be exclusively hosting the Amusement Park Exhibition, which has never before been shown in the UK. Produced by Kimmo Välimäki the attraction looks at exploring the relationship between animation and interactivity from a group of contemporary Finnish animators working beyond film.

Electric_Soul_Screenshot2-web The official launch event for the exhibition will be held on Tuesday 24 March from 6pm and will feature Joni Männistö and Lucas Pedersen’s Electric Soul, in which viewers are able to create their own electronic soundtrack to a short film; Garbage Whirl, Kaisa Penttila’s immersive life-size zoetrope made from a carousel ride; and Aiju Salminen’s Fortune Teller, which monitors its audience and spits out prophecies.

Elemental created by Visual Design student William Marler and Ben Weatherill from Birmingham Conservatoire, is a multi-projector installation that will show alongside the exhibition at the event launch for one night only. The installation which is a part of the Frontiers Festival, fuses the four elements with advanced technologies to create an immersive projection-mapping experience.Electric_Soul_Screenshot-web
