Have you ever looked at any of these famous logo’s and wondered who designed them?
Ivan Chermayeff is a prolific designer, illustrator and artist.
Born in London in 1932 and son of one of the Pavillion’s architects Serge Chermayeff, Ivan is widely recognised for his trademarks, posters and art installations for contemporary buildings. Chermayeff has received nearly every award within his profession and formed a partnership with Tom Geismar in the late 1950’s with the idea of working collaboratively and in a wide range of disciplines.
Our next exhibition coming to Parkside as of the 10 August is a selection of highly influential posters designed by Chermayeff and Geismar, taken from the large retrospective exhibition at the De La Warr Pavillion.
This will be the first exhibition to display Chermayeff’s work in Britain and will be themed around mid-century graphics with an emphasis on the changing political and commercial trends of the period.
