titel1115bigIn the latest edition of german magazine Jazzthetik,Sebastian Scotney has given some insight into the growth of Jazz Research at BCU. The London Jazz News editor said:

“They told me that so many active jazz researchers publish at Birmingham City University today that they probably have the largest capacity in Europe for Jazz Research – bigger than the University of Graz , which held this status so far .”

[NEWS] Birmingham jazz scene to feature in BBC Jazz line-up this week!

This Saturday BBC Radio 3 Jazz Line-Up is hosting a feature by journalist Sebastian Scotney about the jazz scene in Birmingham.

The segment will be 19 minutes into the show which will be broadcast at 5pm on Saturday 31 October 2015. It is the fourth in the series that gives insight to aspects and locations in the British jazz scene.

Sebastian’s short feature will include interviews with Bryan Corbett, Chris Mapp, Jeremy Price, Philip Woods and will be accompanied by music from the likes of the Birmingham Jazz Orchestra, Bryan Corbett, Mike Fletcher, Andy Hamilton, Mark Pringle and Young Pilgrims.
