Discovering the wonders of the Business and IP Centre at the Library of Birmingham

On Friday 5th August the BCU Library’s Employability group ventured across the city to visit the Library of Birmingham.

This wasn’t purely to sample the wonders of the architecture or to roam in the rooftop gardens, but the main purpose was to discover the wonders of the Business and IP Centre on Level 3.

Business and IP Centre

Nitaya, Carol and James at the Business & IP Centre

As we were to discover, the centre offers one of the largest collections of business and IP information in the UK, with access to market research databases, company information and a team of expert staff to offer guidance.

A wide range of workshops are available on topics including intellectual property and market research and regular networking events are held for like-minded entrepreneurs.

One to one expert advice is also available to discuss business ideas, legal information, education law and careers.

In addition the Business and Learning team has joined forces with the British Library and 5 other cities (Manchester, Liverpool, Newcastle, Sheffield and Leeds) to form the Business & IP Network which ensures good practice between Local Authorities to deliver business & IP advice and workshops across the country.
