Top 5… Reasons to attend your library induction!

So, you’ve been invited to a library induction? We’d love to see you and introduce you to our services, and here are the top reasons why:

1. You’ll get to know your library

We’re not scary, honest! We’re here to help you get the most out of your course, and give you the tools you need to succeed. A library is so much more than books, and we can’t wait to introduce you to our friendly staff, our amazing spaces, and the millions of resources you have access to!

2. We’re better than Google

It’s true, we are! We’ve got specialist resources and staff to help you with your assignments. Try our search engine Summon to find books, articles and more – which you can access immediately.

3. We can help you get the best marks

Want to impress your tutor? Visit our Help Desk or book a tutorial with a subject specialist to help you improve your results. We can teach you how to critically evaluate resources, and find trustworthy and valuable information.

4. You’ll learn how to be an expert searcher!

There’s nothing better than being able to find exactly what you need, when you need it (hopefully not the night before an assignment is due…). We’ll give you the tools to achieve the best results.Search_v2

5. We’ll teach you skills for life

At this point you’re probably not thinking much past the first week of term, but during your time at University you’ll gain some serious life-skills which will help you succeed in the future. Your ability to find and evaluate information will come in very handy when you’re job-hunting, bargain-hunting, house-hunting… just about in every area of life, to be honest!
