It just so happens that this month we can look forward to some of Birmingham’s best foodie events. Birmingham has a great independent food scene, with amazing restaurants, unusual pop-ups, and street food to suit any diet. And luckily for us at the City Centre Campus, most of them are just a short walk from our front door!
Digbeth Dining Club
Friday 2 and Saturday 3 June – 5pm
No list of Birmingham foodie events would be complete without the ever-popular Digbeth Dining Club. Held at Spotlight every Friday and Saturday evening, you can find a range of quirky vans and colourful marquees, with a great range of choices ranging from gourmet pizzas to homemade curry, and desserts too!
Saturday 10 June – 12pm
The Bond Company, Digbeth
The Seasonal Markets are held four times a year and showcase the best of Birmingham’s independent music, food and drink. Explore the market stalls for locally-made crafts and artisan food, then pull up a seat outside by the canal to enjoy street food and live music.
British Street Food Awards
Friday 16 and Saturday 17 June – 6pm
If all of these street food events have got you hooked, then why not sample the British Street Food Awards. This is one of five regional competitions, where the winners will go on to represent their country against the best of European street food in Berlin. Download the app so that you can cast your vote, and make sure that you turn up hungry!
Colmore Food Festival
Friday 30 June and Saturday 1 July – 11am
Colmore Food Festival is a great way to familiarise yourself with local restaurants and bars. Birmingham’s favourite eateries all turn up to do what they do best – serve amazing food! The event is free to attend, and all dishes are capped at £4 which is great if you’re on a budget. There are fringe events such as masterclasses and tasting sessions too, but you better be quick enough to nab a space, as they book up fast.
