Welcome to the Birmingham School of Art.

We draw on 115 years of heritage and hundreds of year of our collective experience to deliver world class BA, MA and PHD programs of study. Our courses are designed to help you to extend your creative and intellectual potential. The courses are demanding and challenging, they are also fun, and they will progressively stretch your abilities in order to meet the high academic standards expected at BCU and for subsequent professional practice. The courses involve more than just the taught programmes. They are extended and enriched by the interaction and debate that takes place between you, your tutor/s and through contact with the wider local, regional, national and international influences which impact upon art and related practices/ theory, practitioners and professionals.

The school has a wealth of national and international partners and you will benefit from our close links with Selfridges, Ikon Gallery, Eastside Projects, New Art Gallery Walsall, Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, and the lively alternative arts scene including: The Lombard Method, Grand Union, Trove, Stryx and MSFAC.

Birmingham School of Art has been awarded Arts Council England (ACE) ‘national portfolio organisation (NPO) status and is the only one of two educational institutions to be awarded this status in the region. The ACE Turning Point West Midlands Visual Arts Co-ordinator is also based in the School of Art.
